Why elections matter

The fiasco that is our country's "policy" in Iraq shows why fair and democratic elections matter. This undeclared war, prosecuted by a President who was selected, not elected, has turned our robust economy, our strong position in the world community, and our national integrity, to dirt. None of these things would be happening now if his opponent, who was elected, hadn't been sideswiped by Daddy's pals in high places. Note that this statement has nothing to do with whether I liked Al Gore or not. My point is that free and fair elections matter, and that the proof in the pudding resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC, USA.
